The second night of last weeks double header in the Capital Region - TopicsExpress

The second night of last weeks double header in the Capital Region saw the Tour head to the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. After a years absence from the fast 1/4 mile, the CRSA faithfuls quickly adapted to the high banks and were turning times in the thirteen second bracket. This was also the second night of the Kennedys Towing Northway-90 Challenge. After a pretty, four-wide salute to the fans, the race was on and Cowboy Tyler Chartrand jumped to the early lead with Matt Tanner, driving the Art Kiser #29, was on his rear bumper for second. Canadiagua Speedway regular, Darryl Ruggles, started third and was hooked up on the bottom of the race track. Ruggles dove his #48 under Tanner and moved into second on lap two. Cowboy was blistering the racetrack and had his orange #12 well out in front. The top groove was wearing out quickly as sprint cars were two and three wide throughout the field. The low groove looked like the place to be and Ruggles worked his way under Chartrand to lead lap five. The one and only caution came on lap seven which saw a car stopped on the back stretch. This bunched the field back up, but no one had anything for the #48 as he was hooked up and pulling away with an open racetrack and took the win. Chartrand had his best CRSA run and came home second. Cory Sparks worked his way from the seventh starting spot for third, Tanner held on for fourth, and Chad King finished in his starting spot for fifth. Bob Gray, Scott Goodrich, Billy Jaycox, Joe Kata, and Emily VanInwegen rounded out the top ten.
