The self-destruct device from the QF-4 full scale aerial target drone that crashed July 17 was destroyed by Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel today, requiring the temporary closure of U.S. Hwy 98. We followed standard procedures for destroying this device, and there was no danger to the public. Base officials would like to thank all of their neighbors for the patience and understanding shown during the past week.
