The show is over and awards are in the books for the trivia contests, but before all is forgotten, a few parting words. I think Ellen did a good job as host. She was funny and fresh, seemed relaxed most of the time. Her only error was when she called Liza Minnelli a drag queen and they put the camera on her. She definitely looked uncomfortable and I had all ready thought she looked terrible (what horrible plastic torture, I mean surgery). When Ellen saw her squirming, she should have said something to rescue her somehow. Maybe she will apologize to her on her show today. That will make it better but wont take that moment away. I loved the connection Ellen had with the audience otherwise-the selfies and ordering the pizza, being out in the auditorium. If shes up for it, Im game for her to host again. I loved the set. especially the crystal looking Oscars and the strands of diamonds that were highlighted during the song from Frozen and at other times in the show too. I loved Pinks red dress, her Over the Rainbow and the whole Oz tribute (of course!) Not so wild about Bette Midlers dress (too matronly for the occasion) and didnt like the arrangement of her song. Disappointed there as I love Bette. At least they showed the montage of the departed and then had her sing. I hate it when they have the singer do their song over the showing of the photographs. Loved the acceptance speeches. They were not too long, they were well thought out, inclusive, and respectful. Overall, one of the best shows in a long time though pretty tame. The gowns were all nice-nothing too out there. Hard to pick a favorite because they were all so tame, really. Maybe Cate Blanchett in the ivory or Matthew McConaugheys wife Camilla in pink, Angelina Jolie in silver/grey. Like I say, nothing just bowled me over so I could keep going on but...Robin Roberts, Lupito, Viola Davis, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence... Maybe more later. Time for Ellen now....
