The similarities between the treatment of people of color in the US and the treatment of Jewish people during the early Third Reich days--not only by police officers but the court system--troubles me greatly. Have we learned nothing from history? The concept of a white, blond-haired, blue-eyed master Nordic race didnt originate with Hitler. The idea was created in the United States, and cultivated in California, decades before Hitler came to power. California eugenicists played an important, although little known, role in the American eugenics movements campaign for ethnic cleansing. One consolation: going by the many comments on social media and the growing number of protests, it seems that more and more people have the courage to speak up.
