The sin of envy never sleeps. My view: The world would be a better and happier place if estimates of the personal distribution of income and wealth did not exist. Such data, which are often highly questionable on purely statistical grounds, have one irresistible upshot, which is to feed a demand for the state to redistribute income and wealth, that is, to loot some people for the benefit of other people.
