The single most obvious issue where Republicans have demonstrated ignorance is in their stance towards women. Republican policies place females eternally barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. They dont think much of women at all, really. You can tell by the airheads they trot out from their stable. Sarah Palin is the model woman to a Republican: a dumb, conservative baby-machine who is only willing to assert herself when denouncing feminism, access to contraception, or any of the things that would actually benefit women.
