The small-town rumor mill has been working overtime this campaign - TopicsExpress

The small-town rumor mill has been working overtime this campaign season. Apparently, the mill is churning out the rumor I intend to fire any number of Georgetown city employees when I am elected, up to and including Police Chief Michael Bosse. These rumors are being started out of fear and desperation and nothing could be further from the truth. Chief Bosse and I have talked about this, and I have made it clear I am not entering the office with plans to fire him or any other city employee. A real leader makes the existing team stronger. That’s what I plan to do. I don’t believe in leadership by fear, as some of those running for election seem to. I believe in leadership by example. That’s why I’m going into office with no strings attached. When you vote for me, you get me and me only. That’s the best thing for this community. It’s these kinds of tired, old-school political tactics that make people distrust government and political candidates. It’s very disappointing that hardworking Georgetown city employees have to live in fear for their livelihoods, and be played as political pawns. Let’s do better than that.
