The smoke and mirrors Congressman, Chris Van Hollen, was booed - TopicsExpress

The smoke and mirrors Congressman, Chris Van Hollen, was booed repeatedly on Monday evening at Carroll Community College when he tried to shirk responsibility for his own actions and blame the ballooning budget deficit on President George W. Bush. Deficit spending? For Van Hollen, the three things that created out of control government spending were the war in Iraq (Bush!), huge tax cuts in the early 2000s (Bush!), and a prescription drug benefit that was not paid for (Bush!). He conveniently swept under the rug the simple fact that Obama inherited government debt of $10.6 trillion, and in less than four years, increased it by half to over $16 trillion. Put different, in just four years, President Obama and the Democrats added more debt onto our children’s shoulders than the first 41 presidents of the United States combined. Van Hollen came in for laughs when asked when the budget he had submitted to Congress would balance. Not until 2039 or 2040, he said. Even he couldn’t keep a straight face. I personally want to thank all the tea party supporters who came out to ask questions and who stood shoulder to shoulder with Michelle Jefferson, after a Democrat Party official tried to get a local court to issue a restraining order against her after she sent out a blast email he found insulting.
