The soldier fights for a liberty he will never truly experience. - TopicsExpress

The soldier fights for a liberty he will never truly experience. He sacrifices all of his freedoms and even his life in exchange for the liberty of others. While many fail to exercise the care or appreciation for the soldier, even those who believe they do fail to truly understand the sacrifice and expectation that came with it. The expectation to not only to partake in those freedoms, but the nerve to stand up and defend them when they come under fire on soils foreign AND domestic. Sadly, many of you will not participate even in the simplest of form of freedom that is designed to give us power. That would be voting (for those among us that still believe in the power of elections). Many of us have lost faith in voting and its our own damn fault for having never protected it to begin with. Now, as with everything else, its something we have to take back. And while were at taking things that belong to the people, maybe we can do something for the soldier that handed it to us to begin with. An army, amassed of the very men and women that make up our families, is used to keep freedom where Americas freedom is not threatened. Many do so in hopes of funding college, some out of lack of choice, and yet some because they still have faith in America. Faith is the one thing that being a soldier doesnt ask you to sacrifice, but rather makes you a stronger soldier. Its hard to believe a faith like that still exists when we see our vets jobless and on the streets when they return to the land they fight to free. Its harder to believe when we watch them off to battle under the order those whove never even served for their country. Its harder to believe when upon returning they get to watch illegals come in and be given better opportunities than those whove actually served this country. Yet, some find that strength. And when election day comes, and your considering whether youre going to participate or not, I hope you make a wise decision to do so. Because whether you believe your vote matters or will make a change, the fact remains that you will have exercised your freedom... Something many soldiers have died for. I hope youll exercise that freedom responsibly and with so much sacrifice for your fellow man, as soldiers make for us, everyday.
