The sole purpose of minimum wage was to insure the working class would not be abused and taken advantage. However, since this has happened it will need to be raised to a real living wage slowly. What has happened is profit margins have narrowed by every conceivable way. Businesses persuaded the government to allow healthcare to become for profit. This resulted in healthcare expenses rising a thousand percent. Businesses couldnt pay the premiums any more so they shifted the cost to their employees. This reduced the living wage considerably. Businesses failed to realize the big picture. This big picture is if employees are paid well they will spend more. Businesses and everyone will prosper. Businesses have lost their ethics by crossing every ethical boundary in the name of greed. To prosper again the minimum wage should be $25/ hr and all benefits paid by employer. No company or corporation should be permitted to under pay any employee. Skilled workers and college graduates should be paid $100/hr.. If inflation was not permitted things would stabilize at a level where there is a balance. Greed should be outlawed if not by governments then by the businesses themselves.
