The sooner this proposed Statutory Commission of Investigation into alleged abuse in Homes, hospitals and other institutions (which were operated on behalf of the State) gets under way the better for all of us. We need to know the truth, the whole truth and not some sanitised version of the truth before we can move on. Otherwise the media will have a field day with speculation and innuendo for years to come. There appears to be a report doing the rounds that this all happened almost 80 years ago and things were different then, but thats a lame and insulting excuse because we, and our parents all knew right from wrong 80 years ago, and it was approximately 80 years ago since the holocaust took place in Germany, and nobody is suggesting that that was alright because it was a long time ago. We need our government to stop mucking around and initiate the Commission without delay, and hopefully with international representation from Amnesty International or some other reputable Human Rights organisation involvement to ensure both accuracy and genuineness in all its dealings.
