The speech by Akhil Gogoi to media today is very interesting. By harping on the Assamese versus non Assamese sentiments, he is trying to wrest the vacant leadership of the Assamese subnationalism . Unfortunately for us, he is a leftist and hence cannot be relied upon to really care for the Assamese interests. His cause has been ably furthered by few ( not all ) non Assamese IAS and IPS officers. It is a pity that some North Indian police officers are indulging not only in corruption but also several criminal activities thereby bringing bad repute to the whole department which has epitome of honesties like Jyotirmay Chakravarty. A newspaper report of one Anurag Agarwala being in cahoots with rhino poachers is a very distressing news. Certain IAS officers from the mainland ( repeat, not all ) also have a very neo colonial attitude and get wings to fly when Delhi based parties come to power here. An Andhraite lecherous, corrupt officer had the temerity to flirt with a Minister too !! one of the names mentioned by Akhil Gogoi today also has the same attitude. When Suresh Ranjan Goduka sought cooperation for an event, he dared to say that administration does not cooperate with public, it gives permission only !! for him, cooperation is only between equals and public cannot be equal to Babus !! He is in a way right. Babus are paid servants of the public and should be trained to treat Public as masters.
