The speech of Shant Harutuynyan, the Armenian leader of the - TopicsExpress

The speech of Shant Harutuynyan, the Armenian leader of the revolution for the values (that he declared many years ago), one day before he’s been arrested, among with 39 other protesters and his 14 years old son, because they dont accept any more the occupant regime in Armenia and the dictatorship! I start the revolution by Shant Harutuynyan I do not ask more than 3-5000 people, who are aware that their sense of dignity is violated and they are ready to revolt, but they think they are alone and consider that as they are not David of Sasun, they will not be able to change the things. Now I want them to know that there’s also Shant, who is also aware that he can not change things alone, as he’s not the David of Sasun either, but who said that together, with these 3 - 5000 people, as I imagine them, coming to join me here, than it will take 5 to 10 days to Serj Sargsyan to run, if he still can escape! And a lot of things will change in Armenia, everything from the bottom to the top, because we need to change the values of our society, not just the government. I do not call any political party or political organization to join me. I call the man, the citizen of Armenia, personally, this is a personal decision, because I call for revolution and they can shoot and kill, we still have in memory the 1st March as evidence, how can I then lie and say that change is possible without sacrifice? And then I cannot play on emotions and accuse people they do not want to come and die. So I can describe the situation as I see it, but everyone has to decide for himself if he thinks its worth it to attacks the presidential seat with explosives, assuming the risk of dying. No, I cannot lead a man to the possibility of death with lies, as if everything can be done without taking risks. It is not permissible. So, the political party they come to do what? To discourage people? If political parties were able to change things, if they were able to reach an agreement, they would have already done so. I waited until now; otherwise I would have started this already six months earlier, for example. But they were all politically active instead, they could make things happen! And they cannot now claim that they have tried to change the things during six years, or three years, and they need another 10 years to succeed. There is more opportunity to wait. Because I think they had a right to try one, three or six years, but not anymore! Enough to play the opposition receiving government’s money the whole life and pretend were trying to change things for the good of the people! If I can get the change because I know that I can give my people the truth! And there’s not the question of governance. On governance, I have never held discussion about it, because the job of government is to resolve issues. I have struggled for 25 years, to implant to my people that the honesty, dignity, freedom, equality and fraternity are the true values, to for that patriotism is a value . I have the opportunity to talk on the TV during only 20 minutes once in six months or one year. The rest of the time, 24/7, we hear the opposite. Through films, television series or other programs, they show the opposite, that it’s good to lie, it’s OK to cheat or blow off. So you have a guy who said something during 20 minutes and the rest of the time the other values are taught to an entire society - then how can I change this society? Can I then put the society on the high moral values? Of course not! So it is the governments job to do that. Its like that everywhere in the world. So I repeat, it is impossible in a country of 3 million inhabitants, that 2.5 million think Yes, its worth it I die for the truth; even if I lose my job , Ill never lie or falsely accuse someone.”. You think why our people is collaborationists? Why it’s like this? It is well known that when they are called, they say Ill say whatever you want and how you want it … So I say , this is like this in most societies, USA or France , the majority does not address the true values , such as honesty and dignity. For example, the Battle of Bastille, which gave birth to such a good country like France, where every Armenian dreams to go and get permission to live there. How did this happen? It seams that until now historians still argue whether this revolution was made with 3 or 4 hundred people, or there were 4000 people ? And until today, it is not sure, even though the French population at the time was perhaps of about 10 million, for example. There is no revolution with 51% of people involved, who stood up and fought for these values. If there were these 51%, so they could just win the next elections, no need for revolution. But all revolutions have been made by a few thousand people who were ready to die for these values, and their will, their courage and sacrifice forced the majority to see that it is for their own good and the people than understand that it’s in his interest too and thus creates a moral people, moral government and prosperous country. Our people have unfortunately been very ignorant for a long time and did not understand a lot of things. And all those who have an obligation to explain all this to people or to exercise that, this elite, them, they are not only ignorant , but they are not interested to learn, or to change for the better, because if they leaves room for someone more cultivated and with sense of morality, then they must leave their place.
