The speed limit on Dee’s Hill – on outer College Drive won’t be changing anytime soon. After weeks of discussion county commissioners voted 2-1 to leave the speed limit as is. Board Chairman Rob Dean voted no – saying he thought the stretch of road on the Mt. Carmel side of the hill should be dropped to 35 miles per hour. Commissioner Tim Hocking noted that an engineering study on the site suggested the speed limit currently set is satisfactory. Commissioners suggested city and county law enforcement increase patrols in the area. This comes after the city of Mt. Carmel voted to reduce the speed limit there but realized later it wasn’t in their jurisdiction.
