The spiritual gift of NURTURING LEADERSHIP leads others by sheltering and guiding them, being a role model and by other parenting-type behaviors. They lead people where God would have them go and provide protection to them on their journey. They promote well-being and personal growth to those who look to them for leadership by advocating for them when needed and by setting a good example. Christians with this gift are dedicated to guiding individuals and watching over them as they grow. They will even accept criticism for the benefit of those under their direction. Nurtures glorify God by loving and caring for others with protective authority and by leading them in a direction that best suits the person’s needs. Jesus demonstrated nurturing leadership in Matthew 23:37 when he lamented over Jerusalem saying: “How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings.” The “mother-henning” is the nurtures style of leadership.
