The staff of the Sustainable Economies Law Center stand in solidarity with the people of Ferguson, MO and all families and communities that, for too long, have been subjected to systemic marginalization, displacement, and injustice. As many before us have said, the unfolding events in Ferguson are tragic, yet not surprising: a justice system that systematically devalues the lives of young black men and people of color emerges from an economic system that systematically devalues labor and concentrates wealth, resources, and power in the hands of a few. We support the work of our allies on the frontlines of economic change, and all those working toward a just transition from systems of exploitation and extraction to regenerative and cooperative alternatives. We encourage our supporters to stand in solidarity with movements for racial and economic justice, to connect with local nonviolent organizing like npa-us.org/npa-national-day-action-ferguson, and to work together in being the change we know is necessary.
