The Manchester City striker leads the way, having helped his side win the Premier League in 2013-14, though injury curtailed his World Cup. Aguero has also hit the ground running this term, scoring 17 goals in 19 appearances. Rooney, meanwhile, was a rare bright spot under David Moyes, and has impressed under Louis van Gaal, having scored his first ever World Cup goal for England at the World Cup. Costa will also fancy his chances of inclusion, with his goals last season propelling Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final, and his start under Jose Mourinho cementing his position as one of the finest strikers in world football. The Brazil-born Spain international has hit 11 goals in 11 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, and joins the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Arjen Robben and Marco Reus on the shortlist for the XI.
