The stars and stripes win again! Marvels superhero pic Captain America: The Winter Soldier took the top spot at the box office for the THIRD week in a row! This installment of the mega-franchise is a huge hit, and releasing it in April instead of the summer seems to have paid off for it, due to a lack of competition. Meanwhile, the animated Rio 2 repeated at #2, beating out three new releases. New release faith movie Heaven Is For Real (based on the bestselling book) debuted to an excellent third place- excellent given its modest budget. Johnny Depps new techno-thriller Transcendence tanked with a horrid fourth-place debut. This is the latest in a string of cinematic disappointments for Depp- his star power is dim when hes not playing Jack Sparrow. But no one was surprised when the horror parody A Haunted House 2 also bombed in a fifth-place debut.
