The stars are classified in Hertzprung-Russell diagram, according to the surface temperature and luminosity. Furthermore, there are two classifications - the Harvards classification and the Yerkess classification . The first is the order of the hotter to the colder - O, B, A, F, G, K, M - to says the class of stars and blue are hot, and M are red and cold. A good example of an object with blue hot stars, are the Pleiades (M45) in the constellation Taurus, and a red hypergiant star V838 Monocerotis in the constellation Monoceros (Unicorn). Already the Yerkes classification adopts the size of the stars: 0 - hypergiants; Ia - Supergiants (most luminous); Ib - Supergiants less luminous; II - Giant luminous; III - Normal giants; IV - Gubgiants; V - Main Sequence stars (dwarfs); VI - Sub-dwarfs (rarely used); VII - White dwarfs (rarely used).
