The state economy is in its strongest position in nearly a decade. Minnesota’s unemployment rate has dropped to 3.9%, the lowest level since June of 2006. Long term unemployment is half of what it was in 2010. The number working part-time jobs because they can’t get enough hours has dropped by more than 30,000 in the past year. Representative Daudt said recently that Minnesota’s economy flat-lined over the past two years. This good economic news shows again that this rhetoric is flatly false. You can create a fantasy world when you’re running a campaign, but when you have to govern you have to actually deal with reality. This news again eliminates any argument that the budget the DFL-led legislature and Governor Dayton passed over the past two years has hurt Minnesota’s economy. The Democrats are leaving Minnesota’s economy in better shape that it has been in nearly a decade.
