The storm Prediction centers Latest update as of 11:28 AM CDT is keeping the entire Tri-State including the Evansville Metro area in a slight risk for severe weather this evening and into tonight. The main severe weather hazards will be damaging winds and very heavy rainfall. Large hail will also be possible as well. Although severe thunderstorms can and sometimes do produce tornadoes, any tornado threat appears to be very minimal and just to the east-northeast of the Tri-State area. Any thunderstorms that train over the same areas has the potential to drop a lot of rain and cause localized flooding especially in areas that typically flood during heavy rainfalls. I will be here throughout the afternoon, evening and overnight watching things as always with any watches or warnings that may be issued. This is a low end severe weather threat. We are not looking at a big event. Just keep in mind that this is an unusually strong cold front for this time of year and things can and sometimes do change quickly.
