The storms came again last night. Thunder, lightning and rain. - TopicsExpress

The storms came again last night. Thunder, lightning and rain. They’re gone now. They headed south. A night rain is good. There is no sun to pull the moisture back to heaven. The water sits, runs to low spots and looks for places to hide in the earth. It’s almost invisible. As a child I used to think that when it rained on me it rained on everyone. Now I know differently. My bit of rain is mine and maybe my neighbors. Sometimes it goes to strangers. I also realize now that it’s on the move. It has business to attend. In fact, if it lingers, there may be trouble. Hurricane Alicia visited us one night in 1983. It rattled the windows, blew water under the door and through the eaves. Tropical Storm Allison stayed and talked all night. There’s not many places you can put 40 inches of rain. The storm that finally flooded my house, however, didn’t have a name, only water. To this day the storms at night still wake me to watch for the flood.
