The story about Mikeys bike wreck put me to mind of the two worst bike wrecks I ever saw. Wally and Bobby Askew got new bikes for Christmas I think. One was riding down old hwy 53 and the other was riding the dirt road between Dan Warwicks house and ours. Both were moving at high rates of speed for bicycles. The two hit in a T Bone crash and I was sure both were dead. The profanity that erupted from the crash site dispelled that notion. I remember the wheels on both bikes looked like pretzels. Another time Bobbys chain came off while riding with me and Bradley Martin. It locked the sprocket and threw Bobby over the handlebars and he slid down the asphalt. Bradley and I got his grandmother ( Mrs. broad water) and she took him to the ER in her 55 Buick. Bobby was screaming at the top of his lungs but when his grandmother was not looking, he gave Brad and me a single finger salute and grinned.
