The story goes....a famous song writer in the 1920s and 30s, Hoagy Carmichael, had written such a nice tune that one of his best friends and college classmates, Stuart Gorrell, was completely overcome with inspiration from what he was hearing from Carmichael. That very night Stuart wrote out the lyrics to what would become his first song to pen. Together the music written by friends, Hoagy and Stuart, formed the classic Georgia on My Mind performed by notables such as Ray Charles and Willie Nelson and others. After the success of this song, Carmichaels career was propelled into the next 3 decades. He wrote many more famous songs and even scored several roles in movies. Stuarts entertainment success from his first song written stopped there. He continued his passion towards working in the financial industry. Which led him into becoming a banker. He never wrote another lyric in his life. Georgia on My Mind - Ray Charles & It Takes Two to Tango - Aretha Franklin & Ray Charles youtube/watch?v=Z4rhy1rBsVM
