The story of Malian/Nigerien Tuaregs is sad. Fighting for autonomy for their Azawadi land... They have been battered by Malian army, seen their struggle hijacked by Al Qaeda backed Ansar Dine and finally been driven out of their land by French military protecting uranium mines. The radiation from mines have made men impotent, women miscarry and their camels die. For them its a struggle....many have joined mujahideen in Algeria and some fought for Ghadaffi in Libya. As one man said on Al Jazeera recently. We dont love war... War follows us wherever we go. We fight for what is on our land, they fight for what lies under our land.
