One day a poor man came to the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Sm.). He begged for money. He said, ‘Oh Prophet! I am very poor. I don’t have any food in my house. My wife and children are hungry. I don’t have any money. I am helpless. I need some money.’ The Prophet (Sm.) looked at the man. He was strong. The Prophet (Sm.) felt sorry for him. But he did not give him any money. He asked the man, ‘What do you have in your house?’ The man said, ‘I have a blanket and a bowl.’ The Prophet (Sm.) said, ‘Bring them to me.’ The man left. After sometime he returned with the blanket and the bowl. The Prophet (Sm.) had three companions with him. He said, ‘I’ll sell the blanket and the bowl.’ The Prophet (Sm.) sold them both. The Prophet (Sm.) gave some of the money to the poor man. He said, ‘Take this money. Buy some food for your family.’ Then he gave the rest of the money. He said, ‘Buy an axe. Cut wood from the forest. Sell the wood in the market. Earn money. Do not beg. The man took the money and left.’ After a month the man came back to the prophet (Sm.). He was happy. ‘Are you all right now?’ the Prophet (Sm.) asked. The man said, ‘Oh! Prophet (Sm.), thank you for your advice. I don’t beg any more. I cut wood from the forest. I sell the wood in the market. I earn money. My wife and children and wife are happy now.’ The Prophet (Sm.) said, ‘That’s very good. I’m glad. Work hard. Earn your bread. Never beg.
