The strength of this kid is insane. BB Back Squat 120kg - 3 reps If I was anywhere near this when I was 15 Id be over the moon. The transfer over to his sport (rugby) will mean hes quicker off the mark, stronger in scrums, more explosive in the tackle, able to hold off challenges better & have a greater chance to stay injury free, amongst a host of other benefits. We are seeing dramatic differences in kids who are training smart from a young age, weather it be from their personal trainer, coach, parent etc. Simply put youll have an instant advantage over anyone who isnt on a good strength training program because at least physically youll be a lot closer to your full potential. I remember hearing on a course a lot of years back that our teacher (John Connor ISI) was over at Fulham FC, he was in the gym when the players were training & was shocked at the pathetic amount of weight being lifted by most of the players. I think a 10kg DB Press was mentioned, I dont think they were squatting or deadlifting into the bargain. I hope its changed for the better now but even still footballers are a country mile behind rugby players for strength & conditioning. With a good strength coach a good team can be very good, a very good team can be great & a great team can push onto even higher levels if the physical side of their game (+ mental strength gained from lifting heavy weights) is faster & stronger. Liverpool would still be crap though :D Superb work Jack!
