The studio of a national award winning editor. I go there as a nobody (read: shortfilm director). my only card is that I was introduced by a well-known and respected film-critic. His assistant after initial discussion asks so whats the story. I narrate. My fears deep inside disturb my flow. Will he like it? Do I really need this editor? What if they charge an arm and a leg? . I still narrate. The story is in every cell of my body. I laugh, I cry, I wince. He likes it. I can see it before he says it. I am relieved. I complete the story. Then the dangerous question. How much? With a smile, he says, whatever you can pay. I am like no, please. Lets just get it out of the way. I will know where else I can cut expense and how much. He coolly says this is a tradition my boss has taught me. I am like boss will this make ours ur last priority project. (Hello....I know, but I have lived 35 yrs in this world to know too good is NOT true). He smiles and narrates how they dont charge for some student projects. Really you guys dont charge! Which world are they in? But I am glad iam in their world. #respect #அறம்டா
