The style icon Mother of two fabulous boys, an over thinker, proud Pakistani and a role model for new models seeking glamour and fame super model Cybil Chaudhry is no doubt someone to idealise. She is characterised by a calm and serene persona of girl, who might be girlish but not immature. A full time working fashion model, a loving and caring mom and wife, she is truly a woman of substance. Though she lives in the world of fashion in glamour yet she is a humble person. She is hardworking and well known for her passion for her work. Her beauty, style and confidence at ramp are definitely the reasons for her success. One can safely say that she knows how to carry herself as true super model. In a tete-a-tete with Sunday Plus on her smart phone, Cybil Chaudhry talks about her life, career and future plans. Following are excerpts of the interview: Q: When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion model? I started modelling when I was 16. My portfolio was a sweet 16 birthday present from my mom. Q: What is the motivation behind your modelling career? I love what I do. I love my job. Thats the motivation. Q: Is this what you always wanted to you? I always wanted to be a doctor. Q: What does fashion mean to you? To me fashion is fun and my job is to know how to make fashion look good. Q: Many people see the life of a model as glamorous and exciting but is there a downside? Is the constant travelling exhausting? Whats the reality behind the gloss? The life of a model requires a lot of patience. The consent travelling is exhausting but it is adventurous. Luckily for me now being in this industry for 12 years I dont have to go through too many castings. Q: Besides modelling what are some of your other interests and hobbies? I am very interested in education. Q: Does your family support you in taking modelling as your profession? Yes, my family is supportive in my career as a model. Q: We have heard a lot about professional jealousy among our models. Would you like to comment? There is always jealousy in the work place. Q: How would you describe your personal style? Comfortable and easy. Q: Tell us who is Cybil in the real world? I am a simple person. Mainly I am a mom. Q: Among the photographers who is your favourite? I have very few favourite people. I only liked some of my photographs and all of then have been taken by Ather Shahzad. Q: When you are not busy in fashion shows and shoot, what are some of your favourite things to do? Reading books and be with my kids and family. Q: What changes you have seen in fashion industry since you have been a part of it? The industry has been through lots of ups and downs. But it still continues to go strong! Q: How has modelling changed other aspects of your life? Its helped me to deal and speak to all kinds of people. Q: What are some of the main differences between runway and photographic modelling? Runway is more challenging and nerve wracking! And loads of fun! In photo shoots everything is more controlled, but you can do a lot more experimental things. Q: What do you find the most challenging part about working in the fashion industry? Keeping up with the people. Q: In which projects you are busy these days and what are your future aspirations? I am busy with a few projects. Khaadi is my main project. Q: What are some of your favourite models and designers and why? There are a lot of my favourite models but they have retired. Designers are of course Umer Sayeed, Mehdi, HSY, Nomi Ansari and Karma. Q: What does your career do for you? Keeps me busy and keeps my life entertained. Q: What are those factors that make Pakistani Fashion industry unique from others? Our unique sense for colour and detail in our work (embroidery). Q: What is the best compliment you have ever received regarding your work? I have always been told I am elegant and poised. Q: How do you mange to make balance in your professional and personal life? Its a tough balance. But one always finds a way. Its all about time management. Q: Where do you see yourself in next five years? I hope to start my own business. Q: What advice you would like to give to those who want to take modelling as their career? You have to make sure you have determination, patience, and the will power to be able to this job.
