The subject is CHRISTMAS CARDS - I was looking through our address - TopicsExpress

The subject is CHRISTMAS CARDS - I was looking through our address book and realized at one point we sent out as many as 150 -200 Christmas cards. Some to family, school mates and friends, some to neighbors, some to co-workers and some to members of my Naval Reserve units. Through the years that list has dwindled down to the 50 we sent out this year. Yes, there were some new additions and those were sent late as I did not locate those addresses due to being misplaced during our move from NJ. Part of our Christmas Greeting is a letter reflecting on the past year. We see it as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. It was especially important to us this year because of the relocation, since we had not communicated our address to everyone. I know everyone has a different opinion about Christmas cards, from a waste of time and money to a beautiful expression of the Christmas season. I guess I am expressing disappointment that we received half as many as we sent out. A couple people never send cards, but we use to see them several times a week. Now that we moved, we dont hear from them at all. We think a couple others may have passed on and a few others are homebound, but find a way to communicate the pleasure of our card by phone, e-mail or FB. The rest we just plain dont know. Our normal rule of thumb is 2 years and we cross you off the list. Should we continue the practice or change our rule to one year? Next year we plan on posting our Christmas with the Normands on FB. Personally and obviously, I get personal satisfaction from opening and reading the cards we receive. Of course there are several cards I will always send whether or not I receive one in return. So those of you who do send cards, please give me your thoughts. Do you only send cards to those you receive cards from? Do you delete those names of those who did not send you a card? Have you given up the practice of sending out cards whether or not you received one? Or your list is your list and you send to those on the list regardless.
