The success of removing stains depends largely on 5 factors 1) The TYPE of fibre - natural or synthetic. 2) Is the stain WATER soluble or SOLVENT (spirit) soluble. 3) Choosing the CORRECT procedure to break down the stain. 4) Correct application in order not to cause damage to fibre or spread stain. 5) Recognising a PERMANENT stain such as: - a strong dye stain on white or pastel shades of carpet ( especially in wool fibres. - urine stains - some glues, adhesives and paint - natural wood stains oak/mahogany etc There are of course other factors to consider such as - the AGE of the stain. - has someone else already tried to remove it and consequently set it ? - was it HOT or COLD when it was spilled onto the carpet? - is it a mixture of several compounds (eg coffee with milk and sugar)?
