The success of the Spanish Podemos party proves that while the establishment politicians show no scruple in hijacking the process of democratic framework, and guard jealously the privilege they enjoyed in their closed, narrow circle; beyond lamenting the injury and insult they are inflicted upon, and bend their back in abject humiliation, the citizens could stand straight, organize to fight, and disrupt the traditional power balance with vengeance. Podemos offers an important lesson on how a viable mess movement could be formed and, how its strengthens and influence could be developed through totally democratic way in which all participants enjoy full sovereignty to think independently, express diverse opinions and find way to form consensus to make the movement into a credible, unstoppable democratic wave. Despite the huge reactionary force the establishment deployed against it, Podemos is still in great position to gain great chunks of seats through incoming elections, thanks to the now amazingly potent mass movement it builds. The fact that Podemos could go so far and still preserved enormous potential in creating a better democracy provide great vision on what every democratic society could vie for. Indeed, to me, learning now Spanish is an option that merits serious consideration.
