The summer is coming to an end, which means the JHU students are moving in for the school year. The housing staff have been working with the Charles Street Construction team to make sure there is minimal disturbance while ensuring a safe and coordinated move in for our students. As of now, Freshmen move in is August 28th and 29th (specifically Wolman and McCoy Hall). Upper class move in is August 30th and 31st. The street closures are the same as they have been in the past for the east side of Charles. 1. 34th Street will be closed from Tuesday evening 8/27 – 9/1. Cars for Wolman and McCoy will enter 34th Street by Greenway. 2. The area on St Paul from the northern corner of Hopkins Inn to the corner of 34th will be closed for HI move in. 3.The parking spaces on 33rd next to Barnes and Noble and the Credit Union will be closed for Charles Commons. Most of the Charles Commons cars will be run into the alley from 33rd St to the loading dock to unload. They will exit onto St. Paul. The street closure dates are the same for all buildings. Orientation is giving parking maps to parents. They will be directed to park in the South Garage, San Martin, and the surface lots by the Wyman Park Building. We are hiring JHU Security, Allied Barton Guards and Baltimore City Police to assist with traffic to keep the flow moving. They have been firmly told to keep the driveway and dumpster area for our neighbors on Greenway cleared of cars. Thank you for your continued patience as we all try to manage the Charles Street construction.
