The sun shone down on a group of very excited children as Year 3 - TopicsExpress

The sun shone down on a group of very excited children as Year 3 made their way to the New Forest recently. The children gathered in the Verderers Court first of all, where they were reminded of the history of the forest. They became agisters and verderers themselves as they had to debate the rights of ponies over picnickers. In the museum at Lyndhurst, they studied the plants and animals of the Forest, guessing which skull belonged to which creature and identifying the birds and beasts of the area. The highlight of the day was their walk around the New Forest at Bolderwood. There, the children were allowed to use cameras and Dictaphones to help them record their observations. Animal droppings featured hugely in their interest! Lynn Thorn, a volunteer helper, led the group and her expert knowledge and passion for the area was inspiring. The children spent a very happy day together and learnt a great deal.
