The sunshine from earlier today is already giving way to cloud - TopicsExpress

The sunshine from earlier today is already giving way to cloud cover as the next system begins to approach the Ozarks. A cold front will slide across the region tonight with accompanied by very cold air. Highs Tuesday should remain below freezing and a few snow flurries are possible but will not amount to anything. Wednesday morning looks to be very cold with lows in the single digits in our far northern counties to teens for the rest of us. The cloud cover then hangs around for much of Wednesday along with highs in the upper 20s. The weather looks very cold for First Night activities with temperatures in the lower 20s. A brief bit of sunshine may greet the New Year Thursday morning but will give way to clouds by the end of the day. High temperatures will at least get back above freezing. Rain, sleet and snow are all possible both Friday and Saturday. This event appears to be much like the last several in which we can have mixed precipitation types all falling at once. Lows will run from the upper 20s to near freezing with highs in the mid to upper 30s. The weather then looks dry and seasonably cool from Sunday through the middle of the next week.
