"The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions." –Confucius Commentary I believe that the “superior man” is superior because he is modest in his speech – not the other way around. Bear with me. When you repeat something aloud to yourself, over time, it causes a change in the brain. This also happens when you repeatedly talk about your plans. There is something rewarding about having a “well thought out plan.” It makes you feel happy. If you happen to be in company of those with no plans for the future, then you suddenly become a success figure just for having a plan. Here’s the kicker. Once you talk about the plan a couple of times, there is a danger your brain will feel as if you have already accomplished the plan. Hence, might experience motivational difficulty in translating the plans to action. If you don’t believe that, consider this. Why is it, that people who are always quiet and don’t complain or start arguments considered “dangerous?” Many of us fume, shout and scream whenever we are angry. The quiet guy keeps quiet and bottles up his emotions. As a result, the very first chance he gets is filled with massive quick action. Action Guide Take a leaf from those super quiet guys: Keep your plans to yourself as much as possible and simple brain psychology suggests, you will have more energy and passion to take action than you would otherwise.
