The sustainability and development of a society depends on the ability of the society to utilize and manage its resources for the common good of its citizens. Despite ongoing efforts by the Government of Liberia and its developmental partners to improve transparency and increase accountability to provide the much-needed social services for the rural inhabitants, there remains complex and multiple challenges. This is why, often times, programs struggle to succeed, citizens are disappointed by poor results, money is wasted, and public distrust in government grows. It is this lack of appreciation that often finds its roots in lack of citizen’s engagement, distrust and sometimes conflicts. To address some of these challenges, NAYMOTE has developed a handbook that serves as a framework for citizen’s engagements. The purpose of this handbook is to enhance and strengthen the relationship between citizens and government by informing citizens on how their taxes and benefits have been managed by government. It also highlight promises made by elected officials during campaigns and whether those promises are being fulfilled, and further deepen citizens understanding on government service delivery system.
