The symbolism in Slipknot’s music video for “The Devil In I” - TopicsExpress

The symbolism in Slipknot’s music video for “The Devil In I” is so cool. It’s off their newest album titled ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ which was just released worldwide today. If you’re confused about the music video I’ll explain it. Each of the band members in the music video either kills them self or allows them self to be destroyed so they can begin again. It’s like a phoenix rising from the ashes; all the members had to die so that the band could be reborn again. (It’s also a really cool way for each member to introduce their new mask). This is especially relevant because their last album ‘All Hope is Gone’ came out in 2008 which was 6 years ago. Additionally, in that time the band has had to deal with the death of bassist Paul Grey and the departure of drummer Joey Jordison (both were founding members of Slipknot from all the way back in 1995). This leads to the way the two new members are introduced. They’re both wheel-chaired in and stabbed to death by the rest of the band as a kind of initiation ritual. It’s also important to notice that both new members are wearing the same mask (while all other members have their own unique ones) and Skipknot has stated that they are doing it like this to show respect to Grey and Jordison. Im liking their new songs a lot and I’m about to start listening to the whole album. Slipknot is one of those bands Ill be a fan of no matter what but I have a feeling I wont be disappointed by what Im about to hear. https://youtube/watch?v=XEEasR7hVhA&feature=youtu.be
