The techniques appearing here on an individual scale, in a field - TopicsExpress

The techniques appearing here on an individual scale, in a field other than education, are what corporate education advocates are trying to define as the culture of our public schools in their fixation over teacher performance. Philip Pereas audio recordings of his supervisor, Kathie, trying to intimidate him and undermine his sense of self esteem are quintessential examples of the sickness of corporate work culture and the sick bullying culture of our society. Please listen to them. These recordings document and expose the quintessential elements of corporate management culture: - ignoring and concealing the employees positive contribution of detecting an error - retaliating by finding an error in his work - finding fault with him in an expansive way - turning around anything into a means to attack him, constructing straw man arguments to do so (this pattern is observed over several recordings) - attempting to construct an image of him as a problem employee - attempting to make him and others think there is something wrong with him - Note how she attempts to intimidate him because of her role as a boss Note how the employee begins to see through the process but is not assertive enough to call the supervisor out for her techniques. Pereas introduction to the second video hits the nail on the head - placing incompetent individuals in management roles with the idea that they will make arbitrary demands and hold employees accountable even if they have no expertise in the actual work. This is what the education reform movement is trying to do to teachers. If is sad and unfortunate that Fox TV employee Phil Perea committed suicide outside the offices of Fox news in New York yesterday. I wish he would have had the strength and support of those around him to know that the battle against workplace bullying is much bigger than his individual situation, and I wish he had been able to internalize how talented a journalist he was for making these recordings and blowing the lid of workplace culture. I wish he had realized that he had strength and power inside him for not being silenced or intimidated and for not agreeing to exchange his self esteem for material prosperity. https://youtube/watch?v=EOlVrhRM_mE&list=PLBA5R2kl4c08665x-7gndJGS_OBUn6M-W&index=3 https://youtube/watch?v=vko3RE6cvI8&list=PLBA5R2kl4c08665x-7gndJGS_OBUn6M-W&index=4
