The term Sabra means many things - google it. I agree it would be pretty sick to name a place after the Sabra and Shatila massacre. Perhaps you can go ask the owners themselves why they chose to name it Sabra. Id be very shocked if they actually promoting the massacre. There are many unfortunate stains in history where words and symbols have been used to convey power, control, murder, killing etc. Lets take another example, take a look at the swastika symbol, its origins mean peace, goodness in all four directions. It was hijacked and now people associate it with Nazis and the countless deaths related to them. If a family (lets say Hindu or someone who saw the symbol as peace in all directions) opened up a shop and had the swastika symbol on display, or in the doorway or near a shrine - would it mean its disgusting? as theyve used a symbol associated to Nazis? I dont particularly want a long debate on this - this is my one and only response to you. Peace. Namaste --- Raymond Deane Yasmin Nair (for the Namaste)
