The term metalcore has become very misused. When people think of metalcore they think of all the fag bands like Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack, etc. pretty much all of those gay ass bands that only scene girls listen to. The only problem is those bands arent metalcore. Theyre post-hardcore/emo but for some strange reason they were put in the metalcore category that they clearly dont belong in and gave a perfectly fine genre a bad name. Metalcore is a mix of hardcore punk and metal. Pretty much if Black Flag and Pantera had a baby. Metalcore is bands like Hatebreed, Earth Crisis, Unearth. Theyre rooted strongly in hardcore and they fuse those elements with metal perfectly to create, you guessed it, metalcore. Actual metalcore. Not that gay scene shit thats wrongly considered metalcore. Then theres bands like Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying which are Melodic Metalcore. The difference between Metalcore and Melodic Metalcore is the latter has elements of Melodic Death Metal. Most Melodic Metalcore are influenced by the Swedish bands like At the Gates and In Flames. Melodic Metalcore usually uses both clean and harsh vocals. I know it sounds like Im digging too deep into this but its kind of like how Death Metal and Melodic Death Metal are very different. Same with Metalcore and Melodic Metalcore. People bash the genre without completely understanding what its about and that bugs me. Sorry for the rant lol I just want to set the record straight. Stay metal. #Orion
