The testimony of the whole Bible is to the fact of the mortality of man. 1. The word Immortal only once in the Bible, and is there applied to God. 1Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 2. The word Mortal occurs six time in the Bible, and in every instance is there applied man. Job 4:17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 2 Corinthians 4:11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 1 Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 3. The word Immortality occur five times in the Bible, and is there applies either to God or to the future state of man. Read the following texts and note the usage of the word in each. 1Timothy 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 2Timothy 1: 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Man can obtain immortality only through Christ. 2 Timothy 1: 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Romans 2: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 1John 5:2 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 2Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 1Corinthians 15: 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. Having thus studied how can we then doubt what God has to say about the Soul and what happens after we die? We shame God when we side with devil in our speech when we say things such as RIP, MHSRIEP, past away, pass on, gone to a better place, they can see us, they are watching over us, thy are with us in spirit etc May God help us keep our focus on Him and His word that we sin not.
