The theatre is not a career for people who want to become rich - - TopicsExpress

The theatre is not a career for people who want to become rich - not financially. Its a path chosen by those who must create or go Street Rat Crazy. If wed all become doctors and lawyers wed probably have spent a lot more time vacationing in Aruba, eating hot meals, and doing whatever it is that people with money do, but we were hard-wired to figure out how to eek out a living doing something that we love, while getting paid so little. Financially. What we didnt earn in our paychecks was made up for by living a life that allowed us to come across, work with, and breath the same air as people like Molly Glynn and Joe Foust. If you never met either one of these beautiful souls, I cant begin to tell you what they mean to the Chicago theatre community, but I can steer you to the Molly Glynn Memorial Trust site and tell you those donations started coming in less than 36 hours ago. At this very moment the total is $107,558. A bunch of broke-ass artists who live paycheck to paycheck did that. As Chicagos theatre community mourns the devastating, unexpected loss of beloved actor Molly Glynn, this theatre family, now spread across the continent from coast to coast, searches for ways to show Mollys husband Joe how much we longed to be in that hospital room with him, how much we wanted to hug him, kiss him, and tell him wed always have his back. Mollys Trust has provided those of us who couldnt be there physically with a tangible way of helping Joe with the cost of the hospital bills, funeral expenses, and raising their family. Im guessing everyone who ever met them has already donated. Now Im asking those of you who maybe never met them to visit the site and consider leaving something - anything. Every small bit adds up. Molly Glynn, Actor, Mother, and Wife, who gave it her all both on and offstage, now adds Organ Donor to her bio. She continues giving even now. Please consider doing the same.
