The there is no difference between ‘islamist’ and ‘muslim’; this is just a linguistic artifact of the English language. There is no such difference in Arabic the language of Islam. In Arabic, the only difference is between a good muslim and a bad one. The bad muslim—naively labeled ‘moderate muslim’ by the West—is someone who needs to ‘get with the program’ under penalty of being beheaded just like a ‘kafir’, infidel (the rest of us non-muslims). When it comes down to it, the only difference is that the islamist (the good muslim) will behead you now to help usher-in the ‘mahdi’ whereas the ‘moderate muslim’ will kill you later when their ‘mahdi’ (muslim messiah) arrives. If the one who is now a ‘moderate muslim’ is not willing to kill you then, when the ‘mahdi’ arrives, he risks being seen as kafir and being killed himself.
