The thin layer of fog rolled across the land. She parks her car in the first space closet to the entrance of the atrium. They agreed, that when the time was right, this is where they would meet. Walking through the massive front gate, she breaths deep, taking in the scent of the trees and flora. She follows the stone path to the left, around a huge rose bed, and toward a giant oak tree. On the other side of the tree was a lake, and by the lake was a wood and cast iron bench. This was their meeting place. As she walked past the tree, she ran her fingers over a heart with initials carved inside. A smile came to her lips as she remembered as he carved the letters into the tree, along with one more word, Eternity The word had meaning to the two of them. And the time had come for them to show one another it was true. Before she left her home, she called his phone, and said two simple words, Its time. Setting on the bench facing the lake, she hears the snapping of foliage on the ground behind her. She doesnt move, but she feels the presence of.someone there. Not a word is said. It was like a match of wills to see who.would speak first. For a moment, silence closed the space between them. He speaks to her, Its time?, he asked. Without looking, she responds to his question, Yes, it is. She feels his hand touch her shoulder, warm, strong and confronting. He leans toward her, gently kissing her cheek. Are you ready?, he whispers in her ear. Standing, she walks around the bench, and wrapped her arms around his waist. Putting her head against his chest, she says tells him, Ive been ready for this. For a long time Ive been waiting to say those words to you. Now, we wait no longer. We start our chapter two here. Are you ready? He wraps her tighter in his arms, squeezing her as strongly as he can. He took her face in his strong, but gentle hands, and softly kissed her on the forehead. My love, I am ready to continue this story. The next chapter will be the final chapter. I swear to you this will be the fairy tale youve always yearned for. She takes his hand and walks to the oak tree. He looks at the heart he carved in that very tree one year earlier. He traces his index finger around the heart, then each of their initials. He runs his hand over each letter of the final word as he says it under his breath, Eternity. She puts her hand atop his, pressing both against the center of the carving. Eternity, she said to him. She takes a small box from her pocket. Letting go of the hand of her future, she walks to the edge of the lake. She looks down at the box in her hand, takes a deep breath, and throws it out in the lake. A small ripple protruded from the water from the impact. She watches as the box disappears from view. She takes another deep breath and a smile crosses her face. Walking up behind her, he puts his arms around her waist. Hearing her sigh, a smile appees as he kisses her neck. Are you okay?, he asks her. She turns toward him, never leaving his arms, Yes. Just letting go of the past. They go set on the bench and look out over the lake. His arm around her shoulder, her head on his. Out of the most of the lake a pair of white swans swim toward them. Stopping in front of the two, the swans turn to face each other. Touching bodies, they gently press their beaks against the other. The form they took was like a sign from above. Do you think thats a sign for us?, she asks him. Im sure it is princess, Im sure it is., he told her. They spent the next few hours holding each other tight. The reality of their new lives together never more real. Love had finally brought two people that had fought so hard for each other together. And now, nothing would seperate them. Eternity.
