The thing about social media is, Im learning what each tool is - TopicsExpress

The thing about social media is, Im learning what each tool is good for. I NEED YOUR HELP, so if you love me, please read this (and then I promise not to take too much of your time after this has been properly explained)! The following is my current understanding of the state of social media: - Facebook is for one liners and cat memes. Cool. - Music is posted on SoundCloud (and their app is now USELESS to me, thanks guys), Bandcamp, my website, and Mixcloud (occasionally, when I remember), in that order of preference. - Rambling posts are moving to my blog (Ill repost them here, just in case, and cuz it cant hurt). - Random snarky ideas, observations, and complaints are posted on Twitter. - Cool pictures of animals I meet on tour, and pretty places I visit are funneled through Instagram (I have one person encouraging me to take more pictures, I know Im not great at it, Im trying). - EMAIL: If you actually wanna hear about my workshops, private lessons, or tour dates? Please join my email list. I wont be offended if you dont want to. If I automatically add you, please dont get pissed, but feel free to unsubscribe, I wont take offense. Its just literally the only reliable way to reach people anymore. I dont want to be invasive of anyones email inbox, so Im gonna try my BEST to only email you if its relevant to you (i.e. shows in YOUR area, new music, etc--only the good stuff) I plan to create separate email lists for shows, workshops, and music, so that way Im best serving your needs without being too digitally noisy, hopefully. That said, this initial transition period may be a bit rough! So if you believe in me, and love me, please help! Tell your friends to join the email list--hell, tell your friends about any/all of the aforementioned social media outlets, whichever one you like best, because ultimately, making all of you happy is what inspires me!! I have no interest in annoying anyone, but the thought of not reaching people who DO want to hear from me makes me kinda bummed. I cant even link you to any of those sites in this post, because otherwise Facebook will treat this like a link, and wont show as many people, even people who have ALREADY LIKED MY PAGE, unless I pay for it. Sure, its their game, they can make the rules, but we can choose not to play if we dont want to. So Im saying no, I dont like your game. Im done. Cuz at the end of the day, Im doing all of this by myself--booking, management, marketing, promotion, recording, writing, traveling, performing--thats all juuuuuuuust me. And Im trying my best, but its A LOT OF WORK!! And the more help I get in those other areas, the more time I have to actually *write music* which is what this is supposed to be about at the end of the day, right? (note: blog post on how much I resent the fact that this *is* the current state of the music industry coming soon, but well save that for later) So, I humbly ask for your help in spreading the word to the proper channels so that I can focus my energy on what I theoretically *should* be doing as a full-time musician--making beats for your ears
