The thing that is tormenting me about figuring out how to really respond to the whole Ferguson, MO conflagration is the deep belief I have that it is a manifestation of so MUCH that is wrong with our society today, meaning how we have things organized on a day-to-day level socially. I mean, this much prison, these many police? Prisons and police as bedrock institutions AT ALL, armies...at all?!? Poverty, racism, predatory jobs and industries for those at the apex of power to enjoy? Its just ALL so questionable that I feel the same way I did when I decided to contribute my energy, my presence to Occupy Wallstreet in 2011: we need a Velvet Revolution right now, we need to Lay It Down, Sword And Shield, By The Riverside, and rethink, redesign, redeem EVERYTHING...or this is all just going to CONTINUE. Its fundamentally a matter of the distribution of wealth and power and technology, and I think the optimistic silver lining in saying that is to say what it really means: that we now understand enough about how to eke out a living for our species-community on this planet that we no longer need to follow all of the brutal social shortcuts of self-exploitation as a species that we evolved as hedges against the frequent disasters we experienced when we knew very little about our factual, scientific place in the world all these many millenia.
