The thing with this post, is its not just the hug thats important. When my reader told me about this technique it REALLY hit home to me that sometimes when my child is furious Im only seeing the anger, when they are dealing with complex emotions that they just dont have the skills to handle yet. It made me realize that I too sometimes have emotions that are so strong that I just need comfort before I can deal with the real issue at hand.
