The things I remember most about you: I remember the day you - TopicsExpress

The things I remember most about you: I remember the day you walked into my life, you know, the day you changed it; you changed me forever. I remember thinking early on how different you were from the rest. I had tried the rest, but the rest were going nowhere fast. There was something different about you: the way you carried yourself, the way you treated other people, the way you had opinions and thought for yourself, the way you looked at me. I fell in love with you while I was dating your roommate in college (we wont talk about that...󾌳󾌴󾌬) I remember the day you walked down that aisle at Grace Baptist Church in Shelby, NC almost 18 years ago. I remember feeling like the luckiest man alive! I remember thinking how beautiful you were - the prettiest girl in the room. That old church building that was known for being kind of run down and boring shined like the stars⭐️that day. One in Christ; One in love is what they had printed on the wedding brochure. I think I still have a copy of it in the box at home that I save all the unforgettable moments of my life. To this day, I havent forgotten what it felt like when you repeated those words after our pastor that ended with, I do. It was as if you really meant what you said. Youve proven those words to be conspicuously true. I am certain that you had no idea what you would be getting when you got me. You got a hot mess! Thats what you got. I remember the day we took our first trip to Myrtle Beach where we bought a dog and then named it Trouble (couldnt have been more apropos). It was a miniature pinscher that fit in the palm of our hand. I remember us buying that coffee cup with our picture on it. I remember our second trip to Myrtle Beach together. The trip that somebody forgot to inform us that it was Biker Week. It left a mark. 󾟫 Somewhere along the way we started having children. 4 in diapers at the same time to be precise. I remember when we almost lost Joey the night he was born. I remember singing to you in the waiting room a Jon Michael Montgomery song, For better or worse, till death do us part, Ill love you with every beat of my heart. I dont even know if it was good, but you cried. I remember you had that look that said, No matter what - well get through this. NO MATTER WHAT! Shortly after, God was with him and healed him. We drew closer than ever before. You see, its in those tough times that you have proven your love. The sunny days are nice 🌞 - Im not going to lie - but it has been in the valley where you have been my everything. Even in those days that I did everything to throw what we have built away: you were the anchor, the glue that bound us together. Weve gone through so much and you remain like the Rock of Gibraltar to my soul. Nothing compares. No one can hold a candle to you. No one has ever loved me so much. No one has ever persevered more. You have the uncanny ability to see what we can be. Where can you find a woman like that these days? Where can you find a woman as committed, as faithful as loving? Where can you find a woman that fights to keep what God has joined together with so much intensity? I found it in you. Im so glad its your birthday today. One more year to wake up beside of my best friend. One more year to share this journey together with the person who has walked with me through the good, the bad and even the ugly. One more year to share the joy of raising 4 teenagers and our first year to enjoy to the fullest the newest addition to our family, Weston James. I love you with all my ❤️! Have a great day, Cassie. It is a momentary gift. It may last a lifetime, or it may be snatched away on the honeymoon. Either way, it is short. It may have many bright days, or it may be covered with clouds... if we set our face to make of marriage mainly what God designed it to be, no sorrows and no calamities can stand in our way. Every one of them will be, not an obstacle to success, but a way to succeed. The beauty of the covenant-keeping love between Christ and his church shines brightest when nothing but Christ can sustain it. ~ John Piper
