The thought has crossed my mind more than once, that I feel privileged God allows me to be a member of the church I belong to. Just common decent people from all walks of life and educational levels who are far from perfect but try to serve the Lord as best they can and who strive to adhere to the principles from long ago in their thinking. The pastor puts God’s Word out in a manner that I am pleased with, not you understand that he nor God Himself, is concerned with whether I’m pleased with it or not. Today he made a statement in his sermon that has crossed my mind before. He said folks, lots of us have lost our “fear” of God and have become complacent in our worship and forget that God can do anything He pleases and we ought to fear what He might do when we just deliberately sin and ignore His Word. That very thought has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. Our pastor does not shove God’s Word down anybody’s throat in some self righteous manner and it’s not glossed over like a lot of liberal pastors like to put it out nowadays because they are afraid of offending someone. He puts it out in a loving manner that is effective and makes you think about what he says if you are trying to please God at all. I for one like all of God’s Word and if it convicts me of sin which many, many times it does, so be it. I don’t like anybody whether you are pastor or not, to tell me what you think I like to here and you want to make sure you are politically correct and don’t want to hurt my feelings or whatever. My goodness, that type of person should just save their breath and stay away from me, they’re just wasting their time and I don’t have time to respond to someone like that. That’s the reason about 80% of the people out here running for some kind of office just make me want to puke. They put a big smile on their face and put on their façade and then approach me for a vote. Why can’t you just look me in the face and be honest and straight up with me and don’t pull any punches and tell me where you stand. I may disagree with you but at least I can respect you for your honest opinion that will not bend. Sheesh. Sometimes these times we live in just makes me want to lose my temper and I have to bite my tongue and just keep my mouth shut.
